With every choice and decision we make, with every event in our life that could happen in more ways than one we branch off in different directions. Every time we make a decision we divide into two versions of ourselves. This is how parallel universes are born and is the Many-Worlds theory of Quantum Physics.
In my images the subject sits on the chair on the left. Thirty seconds later that person decides to get up and sit on the slightly different chair on the right. I record both images and combine the two, thus creating a unique image that contains two parallel universes. Our brains cannot accept that the person appears to be in the same place at the same time and so tries to find differences. There is the immediate assumption that they are twins with reference to Diane Arbus' iconic images. Yet, study the subjects and they look different, the image on the right often looks larger. Both are about to set off in different directions in different universes. It questions our perception of people.
